Modern moms have a need of modern gadgets. And for me, the two gadgets I couldn’t do without are my laptop and my mobile phone. These are not what I have wanted for so long, but these are the stuffs I need to make sure that being a laborer in the company and a wife, at the same time, a mother at home will be working at an optimum level.
My laptop is very important, because I am doing a lot of paper works most of the time. I’m in a constant typist at the same time a researcher. I need to encode data, monitor our company’s plan, and even distribute information to different people in the United States and even across the globe. I’m just thankful that web browsing is already available everywhere I go.
More than that, my laptop is my comfort zone, especially if I’m a little bit stressful. I would often create romantic cards and letters for my husband, and colorful drawings for my sons, using photo editing and drawing software.
My cellular phone is very important because my husband, Jeremy, and my two sons, Labron and Jamal, would often call me and ask me for something. I’m also contacting them to pacify my worries and anxieties, especially if I am away from them for a long time.
How difficult life will be for me without these gadgets. Surely, I will be having a hard time in my job, and in getting in touch with my family. I’m just thankful that modern days have proliferated handy stuffs to aid me in my everyday life.

A wife or a mother’s nest will probably be the kitchen. It is also oftentimes regarded as her comfort zone. But not for me; it is my husband’s haven where he showcases his expertise as a chef. If I want a scrumptious meal for dinner, I would often stay away from the kitchen while my husband if doing his stuffs. Or if I want to enter his zone, I would almost certainly just raise a few questions regarding the ingredients, with my hands in my back. There will be no touching of kitchen utensils and ingredients, not even that tiny thyme leaf.
I know he hates it when I talk a lot, especially doing my extemporaneous complaining on things that is ambiguous or peculiar in my sense. It is better to shut up than to suffer a lousy Mediterranean Lasagna plate. But it is not all military scenes in the kitchen. My husband would sometimes ask me to hold the turkey while he stuffs it with aromatic fillings he only knew. Even I, his wife, don’t know what is it consists of.
Oftentimes, he would embrace me or put his arms around my waist, kiss me on the cheeks and ask me what I want for dinner. The choices would often be chicken, beef, pork or vegetables. If I choose to have chicken for a meal, I would be surprised that after an hour and a half, there’s a Hawaiian Chicken Wings on the table. Not only that, there are extra plates consist of Garlic Butter Grilled Fillets, Broccoli Chicken Bake, Hearty Chicken Potsticker Soup, and a Holiday Mix ‘n Match Pudding Pie for dessert. Are we having a party here, or am I just overwhelmed of the food?
So that’s it, if I want to have the best for dinner, trouble in the kitchen is not allowed. That is, the number one rule on that spot in our house is “for your eyes only!”
